Based in Portland, Oregon, pMachine, Inc. is a privately-held technology company that develops cutting-edge web publishing software used by thousands of individuals, organizations, and companies around the world. pMachine currently offers two software products: pMachine Free/Pro, and its new-generation flagship product, ExpressionEngine. pMachine also provides world-class hosting and web development services through its sister companies, pMachine Hosting and pMachine Services.
In 1996, Rick Ellis founded a media development company to service notable clients like Oliver Stone, Disney, HBO and others. In order to better serve his client's needs, Rick developed a number of scripted web tools. One of those tools was a small news/weblog application first used at Nancy Sinatra's website. In 2001 the program was renamed "pMachine" and released publicly. Within a few months its popularity forced Rick to focus full-time on his fledgling software company. Since then, pMachine, Inc. has grown steadily.
In 2002, pMachine launched pMachine Hosting, a full-service hosting company designed specifically for the needs of dynamic, database-driven sites. pMachine more recently introduced pMachine Services, a web development company specializing in the deployment of pMachine Products.
In 2004, pMachine released its next-generation publishing system, ExpressionEngine, offering an unmatched level of power and flexibility for online publishers.
